The male subject pulled up in the vehicle and rolled down the window as he approached the female student standing at the intersection of West Market (RT 199) and South Broadway (RT 9) in front of the Mobil Xtra-Mart. The male operator is said to have asked the young female student if she knew how to get to Millbrook. Aware of the recent report in Millbrook of a similar incident, the student yelled and ran across the intersection and into a nearby business. The operator of the vehicle was last observed driving away from the area traveling east on East Market (RT 199).
Anyone experiencing a similar incident in the area or with potential information regarding this incident is requested to contact the Red Hook Police Department at 845-758-4710, or the New York State Police at 845-677-7300.

Re: SAFETY ALERT
– Report of Incident in Millbrook
Date: October 2, 2009
A report has come to our attention of an incident that occurred Wednesday, September 30, on Franklin Avenue in Millbrook, New York. Two middle school students were approached by a man driving a silver SUV. He was reported to be a white male in his 40’s with thinning hair and glasses. The man asked the students if they knew how to get to Red Hook or Poughkeepsie and then proceeded to ask the students to get into his car to show him how to get there. The students were wise enough not to enter the car and there were no abductions. The New York State Police have been notified and are investigating this incident. As of this afternoon, they have no
additional information
regarding this vehicle or this person.
You are asked to notify
the New York State Police at 845-677-7300 if you have any information
to further their investigation. As always, we encourage you to review
safety information with your children when they are traveling on foot
and are approached by adults.
Please distribute this
safety alert to your friends, neighbors, and e-mail lists.
Thank you.
